Pattern of Question Paper:

  1. The question paper will be divided into three sections. All sections will be compulsory.
  2. The first section will consist of ten questions of two marks each, to be answered in fifty words.
  3. The second section will consist of five questions with an internal choice. Each question will be of ten marks, to be answered in two hundred words
  4. The third section will consist of five questions of fifteen marks each, to be answered in five hundred works. The candidate will have to answer two questions only.

Paper – II (Functional English) of Avadh University BA English Part 1 Syllabus for Maximum Marks 100:

  • Unit I: Precis Writing
  • Unit II: Paragraph Writing, Application Writing
  • Unit III: Essay Writing
  • Unit IV: Grammar – syntax, narration, voices, correction of sentences, synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitute, idioms & phrases.
  • Unit V: Learning English as second language, language acquisition, interference of the first language, Indian English
